From Bacon...What's Cookin' Wednesday

The WCW posts you see from me will be nothing like the ones from Ketchup. Here’s the thing, I don’t really cook dinner. The hubs works 48+ hours at a time, I just eat whatever is easy and G is usually on some sort of food strike so I make him three different dinner options whatever. I’m not too sure you want to see my “recipes” for dino nuggets, grilled cheese and spaghetti (jarred sauce over noodles.) I do prepare food but nothing that really requires a recipe. Not often at least.

You can expect to see all kinds of random recipes from me. Today, I’m going to give you my recipe for coffee creamer.

I’m currently fueled by caffeine (have I mentioned I have a newborn and a “spirited” toddler?!) I drink my coffee with creamer, and lots of it by the hubs’ standards (like he’s some coffee connoisseur or something.)  We have a fancy-pants Keurig coffee maker so making coffee for one is super easy!

This is the original recipe I found for the creamer.

Here’s my basic recipe:

1-14 oz can of fat-free sweetened condensed milk
1 ½ cups of milk
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla

That’s it! Combine it all in a vessel (I’ve been using a grocery store creamer container) and shake. You’ll have to shake it each time you use it too.

* I've made this with half & half, whole milk and lowfat milk. It all tastes the same to me.

* I’ve also made this with cinnamon (like the original recipe calls for) and nutmeg (go easy on the nutmeg though. That stuff packed a punch!)

* Instead of vanilla I’ve added caramel syrup (YUM!)

This is just my base for coffee. I also have this…

The syrups used at Starbucks for pumpkin spice,
salted caramel and caramel drinks

In the morning I have this…

Today the creamer had nutmeg and LF milk and I
added a pump of pumpkin spice to french vanilla coffee

And between 5 and 5:30 (right before G’s nap ends,) I have this…

Nutmeg creamer with LF milk,
1.5 pumps of toffee nut syrup,
.5 pump of caramel syrup, dark roast coffee,
lots of ice and a straw

I'm not going to say this is replacing my Starbucks Salted Caramel Mochas or Pumpkin Spice Lattes completely but since I'm not getting out often (germs, germs everywhere...no good for preemie baby!) this is totally hitting the spot!

What's your favorite coffee drink? Anything I should try at home?
